1571, corrosion resistant steel, edition of 2, 2007, ca. 40 by 40 by 40 in.
The sculpture's name " 1571 " refers to the year Austrians (Austrian nobility) were granted Freedom of Religion - and is a clin d' œil to Caravaggio' s birth year.1571 (lbs) is also the sculpture's total weight. The first three pictures show the sculpture which part of my Summer 2007 window installation titled opinionative forces - poems for the struggling Mensch at Space One Eleven in downtown Birmingham, AL.
The last picture shows the sculpture during the May 2007 two men Show with my friend Jürgen Tarrasch at Bare Hands Gallery in Birmingham, Alabama.
